What it do?

Warning: boring life recap incoming...

But there is a special bonus if you read it all and make it to the end!!

I wish I had wrote a 2006 goals post at the beginning of the year for comparison to what actually happened. But because I didn't, I expect it would have looked something like this...
  • $200/day, $5k/month income goals
  • Win a MTT
  • Enter a big live buy-in event
  • See if playing strictly SNG's are a viable alternative to cash
  • Don't go busto
And I pretty much met and exceeded all those goals! LOL go me!

While I'm being mostly sarcastic, thinking back to last year at this time, I wasn't too confident about my future. I had modest expectations for income, and was actually pretty content with just getting by, paying the bills, etc. Now, in 2007, just "getting by" is a fate worse than death in my eyes.

It's safe to say that I've proven I can withstand the various shitkickings that the life of a full time poker player can throw at you. Hopefully in 2007 I will take advantage of my relatively improved thick skin in order to book some killer months. On the other hand I realize that just a month ago I was posting my "last post ever" so I suppose anything is possible.

All things considered I had a good 2006, just grinding it out. I never took any big risks with my bankroll, which ensured me a safe, and happy year. I never played over my bankroll restrictions allowed. Ridiculous actually - I'm such a nit.

Throughout the year I made about 90% of my income through SNGs with the rest coming from MTT's, both live and online. I made SuperNova (ended with about 180k VPP) at PokerStars, something I calculated at the beginning of the year would be impossible. I played almost 7k SNGs, which is actually a lot less than I should have - I was a huge slacker up untill about August. I started at the 25's, moved up to the 60's early March, then I started adding in some 114s to the mix around July, with full time 114s commencing in October. Due to an extended junk kicking in November, I ended up moving back down to the 60s, where I currently reside.

My cash game was essentially nonexistent in 2006. I think I played more live cash game hands than online, which is saying something considering the painfully slow pace live games play at. Ok thats a lie, just checked my Poker Tracker Database, and it has me down for 26k hands throughout the year for a whopping win rate of 2.5ptbb/100, still basically nothing. I can't help but wonder how my year would have gone had I stuck with cash games all year. I mean, SNGs have been good to me and all but, damn there is a shit ton of cash to be made in cash games provided you are a good player. Considering I moved up 2 levels in SNGs, if I had done that in cash games I 'd be sitting in 3/6 right now, probably raking in 10k+ months with ease.

For 2007, I don't have too many specific goals. I definitely want to be more involved in the cash game scene. I can't really predict at this point how far I want to go, but for an elaborate goal, I'll say I want to be at 5/10 NL by the end of the year. I'm going to be very conservative for moving up in cash games, probably something ridiculous like 100 buy-ins at first, just to make sure I'm beating the levels before moving up. I can't let my donkament inflated bankroll influence my cash game buy-ins. But I'll still be playing SNGs - I can't leave my mindless ATM's behind just yet. Hopefully I can get back up to the 114s within a month, cause these 60s feel like I'm playing with play money at times. As for MTT's, I probably will continue to avoid playing them except for a few bored nights here and there and the occasional Sunday Million on Stars. And for live poker? FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU IN THE ASS ALL NIGHT AND DAY!!!

Ahem. So to wrap up this horribly long and probably boring as fuck post, heres a picture of 2006 was, and what I imagine 2007 will be like.
